Job Location 601 Elmwood Ave, Rochester, New York, 14642 Position Details Worker Subtype: Regular Time Type: Full time Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Department: 500283 University Sports Medicine Compensation Range: $24.95 - $32.44 Career Ladder Band I : Entry level athletic trainer. Requires training and regular supervision. 100% clinical care/outreach. Band II : Demonstrates proficiency with minimal supervision. 100% clinical care/outreach. Band III : Adds program or regional coordination responsibilities. 90% clinical care/outreach, 10% administrative. Senior : Meets all Band III criteria plus management/oversight of sub‑programs. Key Responsibilities Provide athletic training services to high schools and collegiate institutions through prevention, conditioning, re‑conditioning and rehabilitation for athletic injuries. Work in the clinic setting under the direction of a physician and in collaboration with medical and allied health professionals. Evaluate injuries, administer first aid, coordinate referrals, communicate with parents/guardians, physicians, and coaches. Develop and teach injury prevention programs and conditioning regimens. Instruct athletes and student athletic trainers on first aid, functional progression, and safe transfers. Maintain inventory of supplies and complete documentation in the medical record. Assist patients in the hospital setting with ROM, transfers, and mobility plan under the direction of a registered nurse. Participate in departmental meetings, continuing education, and professional development activities. Perform duties in the orthopedics and surgical clinics, including history‑taking, examination, and exercise recommendation. Assist with patient care education in the ambulatory surgery center. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field required; Master's preferred. Certification as an Athletic Trainer by National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). New York State licensure as an athletic trainer required. CPR certification required. Employee must maintain all requirements mandated by Strong Memorial Hospital / Strong Health as a condition of employment. Internship route certification in Athletic Training.
