Hire Virtue is recruiting on behalf of our mining client for an experienced IT Systems Engineer to support and continuously improve the organization's enterprise technology infrastructure.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled technology professional who enjoys working across networking, systems administration, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and end-user support. You'll serve as a trusted technical expert responsible for maintaining a secure, reliable, and highly available IT environment that supports critical mining operations.

Position Summary

The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, administering, maintaining, and supporting the organization's enterprise technology environment, including servers, networking, cloud platforms, telecommunications, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, hardware, software, and business-critical applications.

This role serves as the primary escalation point for infrastructure-related issues while partnering with internal departments and third-party vendors to ensure the availability, security, and performance of all technology systems.

Key Responsibilities Infrastructure & Systems Administration
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Manage Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
  • Support virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Ensure system availability, reliability, and performance through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
  • Plan, implement, and document infrastructure upgrades and technology improvements.
Microsoft 365 & Cloud Computing
  • Administer Microsoft 365, including:
    • Exchange Online
    • Microsoft Teams
    • SharePoint Online
    • OneDrive
    • Microsoft Entra ID
  • Manage Microsoft 365 licensing, user provisioning, and security policies.
  • Support cloud-based applications and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
  • Assist with cloud migrations and modernization initiatives.
  • Implement Microsoft security best practices, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Conditional Access.
Network Administration
  • Design, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and TCP/IP networks.
  • Configure and support routers, switches, wireless infrastructure, firewalls, and VLANs.
  • Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Maintain structured cabling and network documentation.
  • Coordinate internet service providers and telecommunications vendors.
  • Ensure network security, redundancy, and business continuity.
Telecommunications & Voice Systems
  • Support enterprise VoIP , Teams Phone, SIP, and telecommunications systems.
  • Configure and troubleshoot telephony equipment and voice services.
  • Coordinate with telecom carriers on voice and data services.
  • Maintain conference room technology and collaboration tools.
  • Support mobile devices and unified communications platforms.
End-User Support
  • Provide Tier II and Tier III technical support.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and application issues.
  • Configure and deploy desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Support ERP systems, business applications, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Maintain IT asset inventories and technology documentation.
Cybersecurity
  • Monitor infrastructure security and system health.
  • Manage endpoint protection and Microsoft Defender solutions.
  • Support vulnerability remediation and patch management.
  • Administer user permissions and identity management.
  • Assist with disaster recovery planning and cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with company cybersecurity policies and industry best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting industrial, mining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of:
    • Windows Server
    • Microsoft 365 Administration
    • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)

    • DHCP
    • Group Policy
    • TCP/IP Networking
    • LAN/WAN/WLAN
    • VPN Technologies
    • VMware and/or Hyper-V
    • Microsoft Azure and Cloud Computing
    • VoIP and Unified Communications
  • Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong understanding of networking hardware, switches, routers, firewalls, and structured cabling.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles and endpoint protection.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced operational environment.

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft 365 Administrator Certification
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • Cisco CCNA
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CompTIA Security+
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Experience supporting ERP platforms within manufacturing or mining operations.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking and operational technology (OT) environments.
