Biostatistician Job Summary Biostatisticians Job Summary The University of Utah Data Coordinating Center (DCC) is seeking abiostatistician to join our collaborative, data driven team. TheUtah DCC partners with investigators nationwide to provide datamanagement, project management, and statistical expertise forlarge-scale multicenter research studies spanning a wide range ofclinical and public health topics. As a member of the team, youwill contribute to study design, perform statistical analysis, andsupport reporting and dissemination of results across diverseresearch areas. Ideal candidates bring solid knowledge of standard statisticalprocedures, moderate programming skills in at least one statisticallanguage (such as SAS or R), and familiarity with relationaldatabases and large-scale data systems. Attention to detail, theability to critically think through complex analyses, and acollaborative approach to problem-solving are essential in thisdynamic research environment. This position offers the opportunity to work closely withinvestigators, data scientists, clinicians, public health experts,and other biostatisticians to advance high-impact research throughdata-driven insights. The Utah DCC is a full-service Academic Research Organization (ARO)that operates a comprehensive Clinical and Data CoordinatingCenter. We support investigators and sponsors in academics,government, and industry with end-to-end expertise in researchdesign, management, execution, and analysis. Responsibilities Develop and manage analysis datasets andassociated documentation, including dataset specifications and datachecks. Perform statistical analyses using standardmethods and statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Stata) and prepareanalytic deliverables such as tables, figures, and reports forinterim and final results. Interpret and clearly communicate results including statistical methods, findings, and limitations to bothtechnical and non-technical audiences. Collaborate with multidisciplinary study teams including investigators, data managers, and other study staff byproviding statistical perspective and input across all study stages(study design, enrollment, and post-enrollment). Maintain quality assurance and documentationstandards for all analytic work to ensure reproducibility,transparency, and compliance with Utah DCC standard operatingprocedures. Coordinate with supervising and facultybiostatisticians to prioritize and manage competingproject timelines, communicate progress, and proactively addresschallenges in data or design. Contribute to manuscripts, abstracts, andpresentations including drafting analysis sections,generating summary outputs, and assisting with methodologicalexplanations. Support database and data system development including collaboration on data structure design, data dictionarymaintenance, and familiarity with relational databases (e.g., SQL,REDCap, or other clinical data management systems). Identify and troubleshoot statistical or data-relatedissues , proposing potential solutions and escalating asappropriate. Engage in continuous professional development ,staying current on statistical methods, programming practices, anddata management tools relevant to clinical and public healthresearch. Conducts complex, important work underminimal supervision and with wide latitude for independentjudgment. Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (orequivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience. Preferences Experience with SQL or similar query languages and a strongunderstanding of relational database structures. Prior experience working with large, multi-site clinical orpublic health datasets. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively,meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality deliverables in acollaborative research setting. Advanced programming proficiency in at least one statisticalsoftware package (e.g., SAS, R, Stata), including data manipulationand analysis workflow automation. Familiarity with data management tools or platforms such asREDCap, AWS, or other secure research data environments.
