Position: Food Service Quality Assurance Manager (FSQA) Location: Birmingham, ALJob Id: 968 # of Openings: 1 Summary:The Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager (FSQA) is responsible for managing staff on a multiple shift operation, overseeing product manufacturing procedures and maintaining Food Safety compliance and quality conformance to specification for the Birmingham facility. This role will also work with cross-functional teams and manufacturing staff to ensure final products meet food safety and customer requirements and expectations. This individual is responsible for implementing and auditing of Quality systems such as, SQF (Safe Quality Foods), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), Preventive Controls, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) for plant quality department.Supervisory Responsibilities:Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff Oversees the daily workflow of assigned staff Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy key Responsibilities: Ensure execution of compliant designed Food Safety programs in the FBC facility (includes training): Traceability, food defense, sanitation, GMP’s, pest control, Food Safety Plans and all supporting programs.Drive continuous improvement and maintenance of SQF certification-recertification’s and verifications.Maintain Organic, kosher, RFA programs.Manage Hold inventory for the facility.Design and manage Customer Complaints reporting and complaint reduction.Lead Root Cause and Preventative Actions for Customer Complaints, internal Holds, and food safety and quality incidences.Lead the facility food safety team, acting as the subject matter expert for the facility operations management and FSQA team.Drive continuous improvement in the manufacturing process to ensure higher quality goods and monitor compliance.Manage all FSMA required Trainings for plant personnel.Ensure compliance to FSMA and FBC Corporate requirements at the facility.Manage all facility audits: Regulatory (FDA, State, Local Board of Health, etc.) internal audits, and customer audits.Prepare and keep accurate quality documentation, perform statistical analysis, develop reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective/preventive actions, and re-validations.Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all products manufactured by the plant as well as the raw materials, packaging materials, and operations required in the manufacturing process including quality specifications and standards.Manage sample collection, retention, and testing, for existing items/ongoing collection (Sturm, Dunkin’, IHOP, AMPM, Sheetz, LOD).Manage QA Hold and Rework areas.Establishing and maintaining the food safety culture.Maintaining QC Lab (manufacturing floor). equipment calibration, lab cleanliness, pre-shipment samples and COA management.Managing retention samples and storage.Create weekly and monthly Hold and Complaint Reports.Manage quality Holds (U) for facility warehouse.Work with Corporate FSQA to standardize best practices.Demonstrate effective management of KPI’s setting YOY improvement.May perform other duties as required.minumum qualifications:Bachelor of Science, preferred5+ years’ experience in food quality systems.HACCP certified, Certified PCQI, SQF practitioner certification recommendedPrevious work experience with managing people on multiple shiftsKnowledge of Coffee Manufacturing recommended.Previous experience in sensory techniques.Demonstrated knowledge and application of statistical process control, quality assurance techniques and tools and quality. management principles in a food manufacturing environment.Experience managing FDA, corporate and Certification audits. Experience working directly with customers preferred.Experience in writing and reviewing processes, auditing requirements.Understanding of Certification programs such as Kosher, Organic, RFA preferred.Preferred Qualifications:Six-sigma Green Belt or equivalent quality or SPC training preferred.
