About the role
Our client, a global automotive manufacturer, is looking for a Strategic Commodity Manager to lead a major direct material category supporting North American operations. This is a high visibility role with broad ownership across sourcing strategy, supplier management, commercial negotiations, and cross functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the sourcing strategy for a critical direct material category
- Lead RFQs, supplier evaluations, commercial negotiations, and contract management
- Drive cost reduction initiatives and support procurement performance targets
- Conduct market analysis, benchmarking, and total cost assessments
- Partner with engineering, operations, quality, finance, and program teams on new launches and ongoing production
- Support supplier development, capacity planning, and supply continuity
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of procurement, purchasing, or strategic sourcing experience in manufacturing
- Experience managing metals or fabricated direct materials preferred
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and analytical skills
- Advanced Excel and cost modeling capability
- Automotive industry experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- Willingness to travel periodically within North America
