Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned major sports. Has substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continues to examine new theories and procedures. Serves as a role model for student athletes through instruction and actions. Responsibilities Reports to the athletic director and aligns with middle school principals. Advises, coordinates, and supports assistant coaches and middle school coaches. Instructs athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training, and promotes character development. Maintains knowledge through coaching clinics, observations, and consultations. Ensures athletic policies are implemented and interprets regulations for staff. Provides staff training, supervision, and performance evaluation. Schedules practices, tournaments, and events, coordinating facility use. Documents physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility. Manages equipment budgeting, acquisition, and inventory. Ensures cleanliness and safety of facilities and equipment. Promotes the sport to students, parents, media, and community partners. Provides mentorship, monitors academic performance, and assists with college selection. Handles discipline, due process, and parent contracts as needed. Maintains public relations with media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.
