Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This contract opportunity extends throughout the school year, helping a high school student with unique communication needs participate fully in their educational experience. As an essential member of the special education team, you’ll deliver vital communication services, making a positive, daily impact in an onsite setting.

Key Requirements:

  • Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification
  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
  • Experience working in K-12 settings, preferably with students requiring adaptive or specialized support
  • Strong understanding of classroom accommodations and collaboration with educators
  • Ability to assist a student who utilizes a wheelchair and requires comprehensive communication services
  • Commitment to providing onsite (in-person) interpreting, as requested by the student’s family

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver sign language interpretation for a high school student in an adaptive classroom
  • Facilitate clear, accurate communication between student, teachers, staff, and peers
  • Adapt communication methods as needed to suit individual student needs and classroom activities
  • Contribute to a supportive learning environment by collaborating with the educational team
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism at all times

This role offers full-time, weekday hours through the entirety of the 2026-2027 academic year (37.5 hours weekly from August to May). You’ll work closely with a student who relies on both an interpreter and adaptive assistance, ensuring their educational experience is accessible and inclusive.
