Payroll Specialist

Commonwealth Payroll is a fast growing payroll and HR company located in Virginia Beach, VA and they are recruiting for a new Payroll Specialist or Senior Payroll Specialist. This is a newly created position due to growth and a great opportunity to be mentored by an experienced manager. This is an in-office position based in Virginia Beach.

Responsibilities: The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Work with clients to create and process their payrolls accurately and timely
• Respond to customer support tickets and resolve payroll related questions and issues
• Leverage an understanding of federal and state taxes, insurance policies, employee benefits, PTO, and accruals to support clients as needed
• Run and review payroll reports prior to processing to ensure payrolls and taxes are correct and on an ad hoc basis as needed
• Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll
• Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
• Assist with accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W2s, 1095s, 1099s etc.)

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of payroll processing experience
• FPC or CPP is preferred
• A Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Must be a team player and be able to meet tight deadlines,
• High level of detail-orientation, time management, and organizational skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
