For nearly 50 years, this organization has partnered with leading general contractors, architects, and developers to deliver complex, high-end commercial interior projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Recently expanding into a state-of-the-art 70,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, the organization continues to experience significant growth.This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with construction accounting, project billing, and job cost experience who wants to play a key role in managing the financial lifecycle of commercial construction projects while partnering closely with project managers and leadership.What You'll Be DoingAs the Project Accountant, you'll be responsible for overseeing the financial administration of multiple construction projects from contract setup through project completion.Project Accounting & Job Cost ManagementMaintain project budgets, cost reports, and financial forecastsMonitor job costs and analyze budget-to-actual variancesAssist project managers with financial tracking and profitability analysisReview project contracts and ensure proper setup within accounting systemsTrack committed costs, subcontractor agreements, change orders, and project expensesSupport month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reportingBilling & Revenue ManagementPrepare and submit monthly AIA pay applications and progress billingsProcess billing through client portals such as Procore, Textura, and related systemsTrack contract values, change orders, retainage, and stored materialsMonitor project receivables and coordinate collection efforts as neededResolve billing discrepancies and support accurate revenue recognitionMaintain billing schedules and ensure timely invoicingConstruction AdministrationProcess lien waivers, subcontractor compliance documents, and project closeout requirementsMaintain certificates of insurance and contract documentationAssist with subcontractor payment applications and supporting documentationEnsure compliance with contractual billing requirementsMaintain organized project accounting records and audit support filesWhat We're Looking ForExperience in construction accounting, project accounting, or job cost accountingKnowledge of AIA billing, progress billing, and construction contractsUnderstanding of retainage, change orders, work-in-progress schedules, and job costingExperience with construction software such as Sage, Foundations, StarBuilder, Procore, Textura, or similar platformsStrong Excel and Microsoft Office skillsExcellent attention to detail and organizational abilitiesAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneouslyStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective communication skills with project teams, subcontractors, customers, and leadershipBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferredWhy This Opportunity Stands OutJoin a company with a long-standing reputation for excellence in the commercial construction industry.Be part of a growing organization investing heavily in technology, automation, and operational efficiency.Work closely with experienced project managers, engineers, and construction professionals.Gain exposure to large-scale projects across office, healthcare, education, hospitality, multifamily, and institutional sectors.Competitive benefits package including medical, dental, 401(k), paid time off, and bonus opportunity.Strong leadership team focused on employee development and long-term career growth.Ideal CandidateThis role is ideal for a detail-oriented construction accounting professional who enjoys partnering with project teams and providing financial insight throughout the project lifecycle.
