Food Service WorkerReports to: Child Nutrition ManagerPrimary Purpose: Prepare and serve appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements. Maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and safety practices.QualificationsEducation/Certification: High school diploma or GED preferredProficient in English languageMandatory trainings are required as determined by Aledo ISDSpecial Knowledge/SkillsAbility to understand food preparation and safety instructionsWorking knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production proceduresAbility to operate large and small kitchen equipment and toolsAbility to perform basic arithmetic operationsExperienceMajor Responsibilities and DutiesFood Preparation and ServingPrepare quality food according to a planned menu of tested, uniform recipes.Serve food according to meal schedules, departmental policies, and procedures.Practice and promote portion control and proper use of leftovers.Supervise storage and handling of food items and supplies. Maintain a clean and organized storage area.Safety and SanitationOperate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards.Follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety.Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.Maintain personal appearance and hygiene.Promote teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members.Complete assignments in timely, economic, and efficient manner.Adhere to professional conduct at all times.Report injuries to supervisor.OtherHandle and record cashier functions accurately.Help record food requisitions and orders necessary supplies.Maintain daily food preparation records.Supervisory Responsibilities: None.Equipment Used: Large and small kitchen equipment and tools including electric slicer, mixer, pressure steamer, sharp cutting tools, oven, dishwasher, and food and utility cart.Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Continual standing, walking, pushing, and pulling; frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (ladder), moderate lifting and carrying; moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, maintaining emotional control under stress.Next steps:Once processed you will receive a welcome email with more details.You will receive an email to have your fingerprints taken by TEA. This email will come after the welcome email should you not have prints on file with TEA. This will come from Identogo, not Aledo ISD.You will attend one of our orientations, an invite to the next one will be sent to you to RSVP.When we have received clear fingerprint results, and you have attended orientation, verbal references will be obtained.When digital and verbal references have been received we will send your application for approval to hire as a substitute.If approved you will receive paperwork to complete online and then come in to the office to sign final documents and pick up your iIDbadge.Please contact Human Resources Ext 1130 with any questions.
