Job Title: Production Technician Job Description

This role focuses on the final assembly and finishing of specialty filters, screen products, vinyl covers, and hail protection products in accordance with customer-specific designs and specifications. You ensure each product is complete, functional, and visually appealing, while performing detailed quality inspections to verify dimensions, integrity, and adherence to standards. You work with hand and power tools, follow work instructions, and maintain accurate production and quality documentation, all while supporting a safe, organized, and efficient manufacturing environment.

• Perform final assembly of specialty filters, screen products, vinyl covers, and hail protection products according to customer-specific designs and specifications.
• Apply finishing touches to products to ensure completeness, functionality, and aesthetic quality.
• Conduct detailed quality control inspections on finished products, verifying dimensions, structural integrity, and compliance with established standards.
• Identify and report any defects, inconsistencies, or material issues to supervisors or quality personnel in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate production and quality documentation as required by plant procedures.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, assembly equipment, and other production aids safely and effectively.
• Follow written work instructions and assembly procedures to ensure consistent and repeatable results.
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and consistently use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in accordance with 5S principles or plant standards.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and quality personnel to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and process enhancements.
• Participate in training on first shift for approximately 3–4 weeks to learn processes, tools, and quality standards.
• Meet physical requirements of the role, including lifting up to 80 lbs once per day and standing for up to 8 hours per shift.

• Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure for precise measurements.
• Experience with mechanical assembly and following detailed work instructions.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Capability to lift up to 80 lbs once per day.
• Ability to stand for 8 hours per day and perform repetitive tasks.
• Reliable transportation to consistently arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
• Attention to detail and commitment to product quality and consistency.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Basic documentation skills to record production and quality information accurately.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a small production team.

• Comfort working from written work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization and efficiency principles.
• Willingness to support continuous improvement initiatives and suggest process improvements.
• Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and customer requirements.
• Strong work ethic and reliability in a manufacturing or shop environment.

You work in a small production shop with a team of approximately 10 people on each shift, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. Initial training takes place on first shift for about 3–4 weeks, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. After training, you move to second shift, generally running from 3:15 p.m. to 12:45 a.m., Monday through Friday, with potential mandatory Saturday shifts when scheduled. The facility can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, so you should be comfortable working in varying temperatures. The environment is hands-on and tool-driven, with regular use of hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment, and an emphasis on maintaining an organized work area in line with 5S or plant standards. Safety procedures and PPE use are an integral part of daily operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Farmington Hills, MI.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
