Job Title: Lead Automation Technician

Job Description

The Lead Automation Technician supports daily production by performing maintenance routines, repairs, and calibrations that extend the life and optimize the efficiency of injection molding and blow molding equipment. This role focuses on electrical and mechanical preventive maintenance of plastic injection presses, robotic troubleshooting, PLC troubleshooting, editing and ensuring all molding machines operate safely, reliably, and within specification in a climate-controlled plastics and medical device manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance tasks, including inspections, adjustments, and preventive maintenance on plastic injection presses and blow molding equipment to ensure reliable operation.

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on molding machines and related production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.

• Conduct equipment calibrations on injection molding presses and associated systems to maintain accuracy, quality, and compliance with process specifications.

• Carry out electrical troubleshooting on equipment and systems up to 480V, ensuring safe and effective resolution of faults.

• Troubleshoot pneumatic systems, including valves, cylinders, and air circuits, to restore proper function and optimize machine performance.

• Perform robotic troubleshooting, including identifying and resolving issues with industrial robots used in the molding process.

• Work with robotic systems such as Yaskawa, Yushin, and Whiteland to diagnose, adjust, and repair automation equipment supporting molding operations.

• Apply knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs to support troubleshooting, adjustments, and fault recovery on automated production lines.

• Execute mechanical repairs on molding machines and auxiliary equipment, including component replacement and alignment, to restore equipment to proper working condition.

• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify recurring issues, recommend improvements, and implement corrective actions.

• Support and follow preventive maintenance schedules to reduce unplanned downtime and extend the useful life of production equipment.

• Adhere to safety procedures and best practices while working on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and robotic systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience editing and troubleshooting PLC programs.

• Ability to modify, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC and robotic programs.

• Familiarity with both injection molding and blow molding processes.

• Comfort working with climate-controlled production equipment and clean manufacturing environments.

Work Environment

The role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility, providing a clean and stable work environment. The position follows a day shift schedule from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This is a Permanent position based out of Lebanon, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $66560.00 - $88000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
