Crude Truck Driver-Ohio

Scope & Responsibilities of Crude Truck Driver: (Not limited to)
- Haul and deliver approximately 2-4 loads per day as communicated by Supervisor and determined by business needs.
- Transfer crude oil from well site tanks to truck following set procedures and deliver to Sandyville Terminal for unloading cleanly and without loss of containment.
- Accurately gauge well tanks and perform all required readings and measurements before and after transfer is complete.
- Follow proper unloading procedures at Sandyville Terminal and maintain accurate paperwork to track and measure hauled volumes.
- Regularly check tires, fuel, oil, radiator, brakes, and lights and perform basic mechanical activities necessary to maintain equipment in safe and effective operating condition; keep any associated maintenance records.
- Keep work areas clean and orderly, wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety policies of both the producer and employer.
- Must participate in all recommended and/or required training to include, but not limited to, classroom and on-the-job safety training, HAZWOPER, hazardous waste hauling, etc.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.

Education & Experience for Crude Truck Driver:
- High School graduate or equivalent with 21 years of age and minimum 1-2 year driving experience.
- Experience driving a truck through the four seasons, as well as off-road to remote locations is preferred.
- Must possess valid motor vehicle driver's license and be able to meet the qualifications as required by Federal and State laws for Class A CDL license with endorsements H (HAZMAT) and N(Tank) preferred but would consider Class B CDL with endorsements H (HAZMAT) and N(Tank).
- Maintain a good driving record, with 2 points or less on the CDL over a rolling two-year period.
- Must pass DOT physical, road test and written examination required by US Department of Transportation.
- Knowledgeable of U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety (FMCS) and Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) regulations as required under law and organizational policies.
- Must be able to work overtime as required and furnish own transportation to and from jobsite.
Other Qualifications of Crude Truck Driver:
- Mechanical. Aptitude. Understand the basic mechanical functions of a truck, including air systems, power take-off and piping/pumping systems.
- Capable of troubleshooting and repairing basic problems unassisted, including but not limited to tire pressure, refueling, engine fluid levels, brake functions and lights.
- Understand functionality of air brake systems and routinely monitor/assess for acceptable performance; familiar with emergency breaking protocols.
- Use appropriate hand tools to manually and independently connect &/or disconnect equipment used during loading or unloading.
- Demonstrated ability to couple and uncouple a semi-from its tank or trailer.
- Vehicle Operation & Control - Ability to drive safely in varying conditions from inter-state highway to remote, off-road sites under any/all weather conditions.
- Operate and communicate with applicable electronic navigation systems.
- Maneuver trucks into tight loading or unloading positions, checking that the vehicle's loading/unloading equipment is properly positioned.
- Operate accessory equipment such as cab computers and cellular devices to exchange necessary business-related information when appropriate.
- Know, understand, and obey all traffic laws, regulations, signals, signage, markings, and right-of-way conventions as relates to the driving task.
- Demonstrate, the proper execution of various driving skills, such as entering/exiting the flow of traffic, backing up, changing lanes, lane placement, left turns, parking/passing maneuvers, right turns and stopping.
- Customer Service Transfer crude oil from tanks located at the well site to the truck following set procedures without spillage or leaks.
- Load crude oil as outlined in ARG loading procedures, accurately gauging well tanks before and after transfer from tank to truck.
- Utilize tank thief or site glass to check for free water and assess quality of the crude supply. When concerns are present, communicate with Crude Terminal to determine status of shipment.
- Follow proper unloading procedures at home terminal and maintain proper paperwork to track and measure hauled volumes.
- Prepare a run ticket and leave copy of document at well site as record of transaction for Producer.
- Interact with Producers on site in a professional manner to promote a positive image for ARG.
- Unload at Crude Terminal following established unloading procedures, accurately entering ticket information into ARCOMS to ensure information pertaining to the load is properly recorded.
- Perform all required reading and measurements before and after crude transfer is accomplished
- Risk Management Maintain all equipment in a safe and clean manner and regularly check tires, fuel, oil, radiator, brakes, lights, etc. and keeping necessary maintenance records.
- Practice defensive driving techniques such as maintaining appropriate space, constant scanning and evaluating of conditions, extending courtesy to other drivers, as well as avoiding distractions.
- Assess environmental conditions (particularly at remote locations) for potential hazards; report matters that represent areas of concern for corrective action.
- Record accurate volume readings and measurements to ensure stated and expected quantities are achieved with exceptions noted.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Immediately report all traffic violations, accidents &/or near miss incidents as requirement of Federal, State & Company mandated programs.
- Comply with requirements of occupant restraint systems (ie: seat belts) for self &/or passengers.
- Understand the legal aspects and requirements associated with vehicle titling, registration, and inspection.
- Follow all posted speed limits and execute decision-making skills that support safe interaction amongst other vehicular traffic and public highway users
- Ensure all loads are properly sealed and placarded for transport.
Physical & Cognitive Demands of Crude Truck Driver:
- Physical coordination with ability to perform repetitive tasks and movements such a kneeling, stooping, walking, crawling, reaching, twisting, bending, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time.
- Capable of handling materials in a variety of forms and packaging with the capacity to push, pull, lift &/or carry 50 pounds. Weights more than stated quantity require lift assistance by team member or other devices.
- Possess strong reading, listening and speech comprehension to support regular contact and communication across departments and the organization.
- Utilize multiple senses to facilitate troubleshooting, which include sound and smell of irregular operations, as well as sight for depth perception and peripheral vision.
- Organized and able to demonstrate focused attention on a task with adaptability for changing conditions.
- Must be able to read, write legibly and make simple calculations such as those involved in determining capacities of tanks.
- Exposure to extreme temperature and inclement weather given the variances in operating and climate conditions; capable of climbing and working in elevated locations in all weather conditions
- Expected to work safely in situations with moderate noise levels, potentially poor air quality and threat of electric shock following all minimum PPE requirements.
- Often required to work on elevated platform, handle hazardous chemicals &/or climb towers.
