Medical Clerk Position

We are in need of Medical Clerks in the Norristown area of Philadelphia.

Monday through Friday 7:30am-5pm

Key Responsibilities

1. Administrative Duties

• Maintain and organize patient files, medical records, and documents.
• Enter and update patient information in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
• Answer telephone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate department.
• Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail, reports, and medical documents.
• Prepare correspondence, forms, reports, and other office paperwork.
• Perform filing, scanning, photocopying, and data-entry tasks.

2. Patient Services

• Greet patients and assist with registration and check-in.
• Verify patient demographic information and insurance details.
• Provide general information about office procedures and appointments.
• Direct patients to the appropriate department or healthcare provider.
• Maintain a professional and courteous approach when communicating with patients and visitors.

3. Medical Records and Documentation

• Ensure patient records are complete, accurate, and properly organized.
• Handle requests for medical records according to facility policies.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA privacy requirements.
• Track laboratory reports, referrals, and other medical documentation.
• Assist healthcare staff with retrieving records and preparing patient charts.

4. Billing and Insurance Support

• Verify insurance information and update patient records.
• Assist with billing paperwork, payment processing, and insurance forms.
• Route claims, referrals, and authorization documents to the appropriate staff.
• Follow up on missing paperwork and incomplete patient information.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous clerical, administrative, or healthcare office experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.
• Strong typing, data-entry, and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
• Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a busy environment.
