Shop Mechanic

Job Overview James River Equipment is hiring a Shop Mechanic in Burkeville, VA. The role involves inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing farm and agricultural equipment. Responsibilities Pre‑deliver, inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair farm and agricultural equipment. Order parts and prepare repair estimates. Prepare accurate inspection and service reports and maintain records as required. Complete jobs and repair estimates. Keep work areas clean and orderly. Work in a safe manner. Comply with company policies and government regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Experienced mechanic or technician with at least 2 years working on ag/turf or construction/forestry equipment. High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational degree in a mechanical field preferred. Strong communication skills. Willingness to learn. Basic math skills. Self‑motivated. Physical Effort Service technicians frequently stand for long periods, bend, crawl, and lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted. They must maneuver on/under heavy equipment and on irregular terrain, and operate a motor vehicle at night. Working Conditions Work involves hazards such as electrical, mechanical, and power equipment, exposure to chemicals, used oil, solvents, battery acid, and volatile hydrocarbons.
