Nurse Manager - Med/Surg

Summary: The Nurse Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing nursing practice and operations for the assigned department. The role ensures high-quality, age-appropriate patient care; effective resource utilization; regulatory compliance; and the development and engagement of nursing staff. The Nurse Manager serves as a clinical and leadership role model with 24/7 accountability. Responsibilities: Patients, families, nursing staff, ancillary/support staff, physicians, leadership, and all hospital departments. EDUCATION • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required OR must be completed within 3 years of hire. EXPERIENCE Minimum 3–5 years nursing leadership experience, including coaching and performance management. LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION • Current RN license in North Carolina. • National certification preferred. OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS • Strong clinical knowledge, leadership skills, communication abilities, EHR/computer literacy, and professional presence. WORK ENVIRONMENT Includes exposure to pathogens, chemicals, equipment, and frequent physical activity (standing, lifting, pushing, etc.). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Continuously standing, walking, sitting majority of workday. Some carrying, pushing, pulling, lifting involved in day-to-day activities. Sufficiently mobile to push stretchers, wheelchairs, carts and equipment. Visual acuity necessary; hearing and talking necessary for communication. Lift and position patients of all weights and heights.
