Senior Security Engineer - AI & Application Security (Miami-Fort Lauderdale Area)
Identify Security
Location: South Florida / Miami area
Work Model: Hybrid / Onsite
Engagement: Contract with potential Contract-to-Direct Hire
Duration: 6–12 months + with potential contract-to-direct
US Citizen and Green Cards candidates only.
About the Opportunity
Identify Security is seeking an experienced Security Engineer with hands-on engineering experience, strong architectural thinking, and an understanding of application security, cloud, and emerging AI technologies.
We need someone who understands how complex enterprise systems work together--from applications and APIs to networks, identity, cloud infrastructure, and AI-enabled services--and can identify security risks, determine where controls belong, and help drive practical solutions.
This is not a traditional penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, or compliance-focused role.
The right person combines engineering execution with architectural judgment. They don't need to hold a formal architect title, but they must understand system design, integration, and implementation tradeoffs.
This is not primarily a software development role.
What You'll Do
- Review application, cloud, infrastructure, and AI-enabled system architectures to identify security risks and integration gaps.
- Understand how applications, APIs, middleware, backend services, networks, and identity systems interact.
- Evaluate authentication, authorization, API security, trust boundaries, and appropriate security control placement.
- Apply engineering and architectural judgment to security design and implementation decisions.
- Assess cloud architectures, connectivity, workload identity, and related security controls.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and their security implications.
- Support security technology evaluations and proofs of value (PoVs).
- Collaborate with application engineering, cloud, infrastructure, IAM, architecture, and business teams.
- Translate ambiguous technical challenges into actionable solutions, ownership, and implementation plans.
- Drive technical issues and initiatives through resolution with limited supervision.
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on engineering experience designing, implementing, or materially improving technical solutions.
- Architecture capability-- understanding system design, integration, technical dependencies, trust boundaries, and security controls.
- Application and API security knowledge , including authentication, authorization, application behavior, and backend connectivity.
- Cloud understanding , including cloud architecture, infrastructure, identity, networking, and security controls.
- Practical AI understanding , including how AI-enabled applications and services interact with enterprise systems and introduce security risks.
- Ability to work across application, cloud, network, identity, and security engineering teams.
- Experience evaluating technical designs and explaining implementation tradeoffs.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and independent execution.
This is not a junior position, but a senior title or specific number of years is not required. Demonstrated engineering and architecture capability matters more than title.
What Will Separate You
We want someone who can examine a complex technical environment and answer:
How does it work? → Where can trust break? → What's the security risk? → Where should the control sit? → How do we implement it?
We will want to hear real examples of systems you have engineered, architectures you have influenced, decisions you have made, and technical problems you have helped resolve.
Helpful, Not Required
- Direct AI agent, Agentic AI, MCP, or AI security implementation experience
- IAM platforms such as Entra, Ping, or ForgeRock
- OAuth/OIDC, token security, and non-human identities
- Cloud-native applications, Kubernetes, and microservices
- Network security engineering, segmentation, WAF, and API gateways
- DevSecOps, CI/CD security, SAST/DAST, and software supply chain security
- eCommerce or high-volume consumer environments
- Security technology PoVs and evaluations
- Jira and Confluence
Location and Engagement Requirements
- South Florida -- onsite four days per week
- Long-term contract with potential contract-to-direct hire
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder; no sponsorship
- Ability to commit fully to the engagement and comply with client policies regarding outside employment
If you have an engineering foundation, can think architecturally, understand application security, cloud, and AI technologies, and know how to turn complex technical problems into practical solutions, we'd like to hear from you.
