Assistant Baseball Coach/Retention Specialist

Southern Arkansas University, a NCAA Division II member institution and member of the Great American Conference (GAC), is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Baseball Coach.  Candidates will be expected to be in full compliance with the University, NCAA, and GAC regulations and will work as a Retention Specialist in the Enrollment Services Department.

Duties: support the head coach in all phases of a highly competitive program including but not limited to: assist with the development and supervision of the student-athletes in the baseball program; assist with offensive and defensive development of student-athletes with head coach; assist with organizing, conducting, and supervising all practices and games; assist with recruiting quality student-athletes under the guidelines established by the University, the NCAA and the GAC; assist with scheduling nationally competitive teams with the head coach; assist with admissions, on-campus housing, and enrollment of recruited student-athletes; assist with budgetary responsibilities including recruitment, team travel, and equipment; monitor student-athletes academic progress; assist with community fund-raising efforts and public relations; daily contact/visitation with students across campus who are under academic distress and other duties assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred; demonstrate evidence of successful experience in coaching; record of success in collegiate and/or interscholastic coaching; effective communication, excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong attention to detail; interpersonal skills and commitment to total success of students.
