LOCATION OF POSITION: MDH-John L Gildner RICA, 15000 Broschart Rd., Rockville, MD Main Purpose of Job The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct care to children and adolescents with emotional disabilities—including court involved youth—and their families through clinical services such as individual, group, and family therapy. The therapist facilitates improved mental health functioning for clients in family, school, and community settings within a residential and day treatment mental health program. In addition, the therapist provides clinical supervision to Psychology Interns who manage cases for youths with emotional disability and their families. The role acts as a primary therapist and case manager within a multidisciplinary team. Minimum Qualifications Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists. Experience: Two years of experience rendering psychological services or engaged in psychological research after receipt of a Psychologist license. Desired or Preferred Qualifications Experience working with adolescents with emotional disabilities and court involved youth. Experience using Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB) techniques. Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications Must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to permanent appointment. Applicants without a Maryland license may apply before receipt of the required license, but the application will be designated in pending status by the MDH Testing Unit. When the license is obtained, a copy must be submitted to MDH to remove the pending status. Employees may be assigned duties that require driving a motor vehicle and must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in Maryland.
