Radiographer II - Edmond General Description The Radiographer II is an experienced professional who, under general supervision, performs routine Diagnostic X‑Ray examinations with increased independence, using fixed and/or portable equipment in accordance with established protocols, safety guidelines and quality standards. Provides exceptional patient care while working towards expertise in the discipline. Essential Responsibilities Utilizes advanced skill set and knowledge to perform diagnostic imaging on patients as ordered by a care provider in routine or emergent conditions under limited supervision. Ensures testing is performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient‑centric care. Assists with basic fluoroscopic procedures when required. Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with physician‑ordered exams to support appropriate imaging. Safely administers contrast per protocol and identifies, manages, and escalates contrast reactions and changes in patient condition. Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines. Collaborates with team members across OU Health including providers to provide exceptional patient care. Conducts post‑testing quality reviews without assistance to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards. Accurately documents in EMR/PACS per organizational policies and procedures. Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data and findings, and prepares study for reporting by physician. Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines. Ensures that technical quality of performed testing meets established protocols and applicable accreditation standards. Serves as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members and assists with onboarding of new team members. Supports OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program. Actively contributes to protocol optimization and dose‑reduction efforts in collaboration with the care team. Demonstrates advanced knowledge by preparing and presenting in‑service trainings as requested by leadership. Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as assigned. Assists with ordering and maintaining inventory to ensure adequate supplies are available. May provide on‑call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned. General Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: Associate's degree from an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARRT. Experience: 3–5 years of experience as a Radiographer required. License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s): Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) and ARRT (RT) Certification required at hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Core knowledge and understanding of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology; radiologic technologies and terminology associated with Diagnostic X‑Ray. Ability and skill to apply core‑level primary specialty theory, practices, and techniques to perform, post‑process, analyze, and annotate study data or procedure documentation with limited supervision or assistance. Ability to recognize basic imaging artifacts and implement corrective measures independentl;y or under guidance. Ability to function with increased independence and clinical judgment across diverse care settings. Knowledge of imaging and Diagnostic X‑Ray policies, procedures, techniques, and processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and patient populations served. Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards. Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non‑clinical work assignments. Ability to multi‑task and remain calm in stressful situations. Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others. Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled. Ability to be sensitive to patients' physical and psychological needs. Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes. Ability to work and solve problems with limited supervision. Ability to train and mentor others.
