Preventative Maintenance TechnicianMurrey's Disposal, a division of Waste Connections, is hiring a Preventative Maintenance Technician to support our fleet operations in Fife, Washington. As a Preventative Maintenance Technician, you'll help keep our fleet of garbage trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment running safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on role suited for individuals with mechanical experience who are ready to step into a PM mechanic position. If you've got a strong work ethic and a desire to advance, we'll provide on-the-job training to help you grow into a full diesel mechanic.Schedule: Monday to Friday | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PMOvertime: 3–10 hours/week on averageCompensation: Base Pay: $29.00 – $30.25/hourShift Differential: +$1.50/hourTotal Starting Pay: $30.50 – $31.75/hourKey Responsibilities:Perform preventative maintenance on refuse trucks, trailers, and yellow iron equipmentUse fleet maintenance software to manage service records and inspectionsConduct safety checks and maintain a clean, OSHA-compliant shopCollaborate with drivers to identify and resolve mechanical issuesComplete repairs based on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)Work Environment & Physical Requirements:This is a physically demanding positionMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted on a regular basisFrequent bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periodsMust be able to climb stairs and ladders, and get in and out of truck cabs and equipment safelyRequired to adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout proceduresMust wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while on dutyExposure to unpleasant odors, noise, dust, grease, and moving mechanical parts is common in the shop and yard environmentQualifications:Experience in commercial vehicle or diesel maintenance preferred (not required)Welding experience is a plus, but not requiredValid driver's licenseBasic tool set and toolboxAbility to use diagnostic tools and basic computer systemsPositive attitude and willingness to learnSafety-Sensitive Role:This position is classified as safety-sensitive, meaning it involves tasks where impaired performance could pose a risk to the safety of the employee or others.
