Medical Collections Specialist

Job Description Our client is a specialist in clinical and diagnostic testing. They are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to join their growing team! Location: St. Charles, IL Pay: $20 - $23 hour Schedule: Monday – Friday 9 – 5:30 Responsibilities Pursue collection of third-party patient accounts by phone and form letters. Send form letters to accounts based on the collection cycle as outlined in the procedures. Contact doctor’s office for required information as needed. Contact insurance companies for claim status if necessary. Answer incoming calls from patient accounts. Investigate any billing discrepancies. Monitor Statements. Establish reasonable payment plans when necessary. Prepare list of accounts for referral to outside collection agency. Ensure assigned turnaround time is met for all accounts. Receivables- as noted in performance standards. Strict adherence with HIPAA. Call volume- approximately 10+ calls per hour without interruption. Investigate validity of refunds. Qualifications You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; be detail oriented, well organized, adaptive, analytical, professional, and reliable; and be able to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy, customer service, thoroughness, and timeliness. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Knowledge and understanding of Credit and Collections Laws required. Experience Minimum three years of medical collection experience preferred. Previous experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) highly preferred. Familiar with ICD 10 and CPT Coding.
