Our organization is currently seeking a full-time faculty member to enhance the Infectious Diseases Division within the Department of Internal Medicine. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Infectious Diseases.

Faculty in the Infectious Diseases division engage in hospital consultations, clinical practice, and educational activities for residents and students. There are opportunities to focus on specific interests based on the applicant's background and experience. Faculty members will share weekend and holiday on-call duties equally. We encourage applications from both Fellows in training and experienced physicians.

The division plays a significant role in resident education, with some faculty also actively involved in teaching medical students. Instruction includes bedside teaching for MS3 and MS4 students, as well as classroom topics for MS1 and MS2 students covering Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, and Pharmacology. If a faculty member significantly contributes to basic science education, arrangements for protected time for these activities can be made in collaboration with the Office of Medical Student Education.

Job Responsibilities:

• 90% clinical duties and 10% stewardship responsibilities
• Opportunities for mentoring and research
• Division-wide responsibility for antibiotic education and control
• Teaching opportunities include:
• Core Curriculum lectures for the Infectious Diseases Fellowship
• Interactive learning for junior medical student clerkships
• Global Health/Tropical Medicine elective for senior medical students
• Internal Medicine elective for senior medical students
• Electives and formal learning sessions for Internal Medicine residents, including journal clubs and case presentations
• Grand Rounds presentations
• Epidemiology lectures for the School of Public Health
• Community and public information lectures

Faculty members in the Department of Medicine are encouraged to pursue academic interests through teaching and research, as well as to provide care to underserved populations through partnerships with local health systems. The setting: Our organization is affiliated with a major medical center and school of medicine, dedicated to delivering comprehensive care at a high standard of clinical excellence. The medical center serves as the primary tertiary referral source for Riverside and San Bernardino counties, catering to a population of nearly 4 million.

The medical center and children's hospital function as a Level I Trauma Center for a four-county area, covering about 25% of the state, and are equipped with over 850 licensed beds.

Compensation & Benefits

The starting base salary for this position ranges from $240,000 to $290,000, adjusted based on experience and faculty rank. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity incentives and is subject to departmental compensation plans. Further details regarding compensation will be discussed during the recruitment process.
