About the Position

Opportunity:

Medical Lab Scientist - ER LAB / FSED

Job Details:

• 13-week assignment with option to extend to 26 weeks
• 10-hour shifts on a 7 on/7 off rotating schedule
• Day shift and night shift positions available (1 MLS per shift)
• Every other weekend requirement
• No on-call requirements, though additional hours available during off weeks
• Work in a 10-treatment room freestanding emergency department lab setting
• Perform daily maintenance, quality control, and calibrations on analyzers and patient testing including waived and non-waived tests
• Perform specimen processing including ordering tests, centrifuging specimens, preparing send-outs for transport, stocking lab supplies, and routine cleaning of lab surfaces
• Willing to perform clerical duties as assigned by nursing and lab director in support of FSED operations
• Operate equipment including Siemens Dimension EXL, Sysmex 1000, Roche Clineteck, Werfen Top 300, Quidel Triage, Siemens ePOC, Abbott iSTAT, Veritor FLU, Quidel SOFIA COVID-19, and Aerospray stainer
• Use EPIC EMR system
• Must hold full license - associates degree not accepted
• Required certification: MLS or MLT certification through ASCP (MLS, CLS, MT Medical Technologist)
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in a hospital laboratory environment as an MLT or MLS required
• Experience with EPIC preferred
• Experience with listed analyzers preferred
• Must adhere to standard lab safety protocols as required by CLIA and CAP
• Dress code: pewter-colored scrubs; lab coat will be provided
• Must be able to work independently while also communicating professionally with both lab and non-lab clinical staff

The lab is equipped with advanced diagnostic analyzers and operates using the EPIC electronic medical records system. The department maintains high standards of laboratory safety and quality, adhering to CLIA and CAP requirements, and provides a collaborative environment where lab professionals interface directly with emergency department clinical staff.
