As part of Burns & McDonnell, we combine technical excellence, commercial insight, and a collaborative spirit to address the most critical challenges in energy generation, markets, and finance.We are seeking a Project Delivery Manager (PDM) to lead and grow our Energy Advisory department in our Northeast Region. This high-impact leadership role provides operational oversight, team development, and project excellence across consulting engagements in power generation, renewables, market analysis, and utility finance. The PDM will play a key role in building and mentoring a high-performing consulting team while ensuring the delivery of high-quality work and alignment with our firm’s values and mission.What You’ll DoAs a Project Delivery Manager (PDM), you will provide strategic and operational leadership to a team of consultants and analysts, supporting the execution of projects within the Energy Advisory department and business lines. You will work closely with managing directors and business line leads to ensure project excellence, staff development, and alignment with company goals and values. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Leadership & Team DevelopmentProvide strategic leadership and direction to the Energy Advisory team, including Power & Fuels, Renewables, Power Markets, and Utility Finance groups.Recruit, develop, train, and retain high-performing staff capable of delivering exceptional consulting and technical work.Conduct performance evaluations and regular one-on-one meetings to provide feedback, guidance, and professional development support.Promote the Burns & McDonnell culture, values, and mission, while modeling 1898 & Co.’s traits: tenacious problem solvers, curious seekers, unselfish collaborators, and grit.Interpret and communicate organizational goals, policies, and business priorities to staff.Project & Resource ManagementLead and oversee delivery of consulting engagements across energy advisory domains, including asset assessments, market analysis, financial modeling, and renewables strategy.Provide expert-level technical and commercial guidance for projects involving power generation, market studies, and utility finance.Ensure efficient staff assignment, workload management, and utilization to support profitable project delivery and meet billable targets.Lead and oversee project QA/QC efforts, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations and company standards.Collaborate with project managers to manage project scope, schedule, and budget performance, maintaining high-quality outcomes across multiple engagements.Support the development and implementation of best practices in project delivery, quality management, and technical execution.Ensure compliance with company and safety policies across all projects.Strategic & Operational ExecutionCollaborate with managing directors, business line leads, and proposal teams to support business development and secure new client engagements.Oversee the delivery of consulting services within the department and business lines.Implement and support firmwide programs and initiatives, ensuring effective communication and adoption within the team.Monitor key performance metrics, drive continuous improvement, and ensure achievement of stated financial and operational targets.Promote collaboration with adjacent business lines to advance cross-functional opportunities.Preferred Experience & SkillsCandidates may not possess every experience or skill listed below, but experience in several of these areas will help position them for success in this role.Experience leading consulting, engineering, advisory, or professional services teams within the utility, energy, infrastructure, or related industries.Demonstrated success managing and developing multidisciplinary teams, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development.Experience overseeing delivery of complex consulting engagements, including responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction.Strong understanding of one or more energy industry sectors such as Power & Fuels, Renewables, Power Markets, Utility Finance, Asset Management, Transmission, or Grid Modernization.Experience balancing staff utilization, workload forecasting, resource planning, and project delivery objectives within a consulting or professional services environment.Experience supporting project quality management programs, including QA/QC processes, technical reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.Ability to effectively lead teams through competing priorities, changing business needs, and evolving client expectations.Experience building collaborative relationships with project managers, technical specialists, business line leaders, and client stakeholders.Proven ability to mentor consultants and analysts while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence.Experience supporting business development efforts, including proposal development, staffing strategy, client engagement, and pursuit planning.Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage technical staff, project teams, client stakeholders, and executive leadership.Experience using operational, financial, and performance metrics to guide decision-making and improve organizational effectiveness.Ability to combine technical credibility with strong leadership, operational discipline, and a commitment to successful project delivery.Demonstrated commitment to developing high-performing teams through coaching, mentorship, and professional development.Curiosity, adaptability, and a passion for helping clients and teams navigate the evolving energy landscape.QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, finance, business, or other related field and 5 years of related experience required.Previous leadership and/or management experience is preferable.Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.Must be expert in the use of computer
