Surgery - Thoracic Physician

Cardiothoracic Surgery physician needed in Missouri for call-only coverage near Joplin Regional Airport. This is beeper call with a 20-minute response time, supporting a short-staffed service across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Highlights:

• Call-only coverage
• Looking for a couple of locums to help cover about 20 call shifts per month
• Adult patient population with mix of inpatient and outpatient coverage

Practice Setting:

• Cardiothoracic surgery coverage across inpatient and outpatient environments
• Admissions required
• No APP supervision and no resident or teaching responsibilities
• Stroke-certified hospital

Schedule:

• Call coverage runs 7A to 7A
• Supplemental coverage for staffing gaps, multiple providers can share coverage
• Specific dates are available across late summer through year-end, with additional coverage authorized into late 2026

Cases and Procedures:

• General CV and thoracic surgery, open and endoscopic, including lung resections and chest wall or pleural procedures
• Cardiac cases including CABG, valve repair and replacement, and aorto-thoracic aneurysm work
• Structural and device experience preferred, including TAVR, permanent pacemakers, AICD, and LVAD exposure
• ICU and line-based skills preferred, including vent management, bronchoscopy, and central, arterial, PA catheter, and IABP placement

Requirements:

• Must be an MD or DO
• Board Certified in Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery
• Active Missouri medical license required
• ACLS, ATLS, and BLS required
