PLG is a Nashville-based freight brokerage. We move open deck, dry van, and box truck freight across the country for manufacturers, event companies, and distributors. We're small enough that what you do matters and everyone knows your name, and busy enough that you'll learn fast.

About this job

This is a back-office role that keeps the company running. You'll own carrier compliance — making sure every truck we put under a load is legally authorized, properly insured, and safe. You'll also handle billing calls, run our social media, and pick up the administrative work that keeps a brokerage from falling behind itself.

It's a real mix. If you want one narrow job you'll be bored here. If you want to understand how a freight business actually works, this is the seat with the best view.

What you'll do

Carrier compliance — the core of the job

• Vet every new carrier before they haul for us: active FMCSA operating authority, MC and DOT numbers, and current operating status
• Verify certificates of insurance — auto liability, cargo, and general liability — with correct coverage limits and PLG named as certificate holder
• Review safety records in SAFER and the SMS BASICs;
  flag out-of-service rates and unsafe driving scores that fall outside our standards
• Confirm contact information against the FMCSA record.
• Monitor active carriers for authority revocations, insurance lapses, and safety rating changes
• Keep carrier files complete and audit-ready

Billing and customer support

• Answer incoming billing calls from customers and carriers
• Research invoice questions, rate discrepancies, and missing paperwork
• Pull PODs, BOLs, and rate confirmations and get them where they need to go
• Follow up on open receivables and keep notes current in our system

Social media

• Manage our LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram accounts
• Post consistently — company news, hiring, industry commentary
• Respond to comments and messages, and route real leads to the sales team

Back office

• General administrative support across the office
• Help with document management, data entry, and whatever else needs doing

What we're looking for

• High school diploma or equivalent;
  a degree is welcome butnot required
• No freight experience necessary — we'll teach you the industry
• Genuinely detail-oriented. The whole job is catching the thing that's slightly off before it becomes a problem
• Comfortable on the phone
• Solid written communication — you'll be posting publicly under our name
• Comfortable with computers;
  we'll train you on our TMS and FMCSA systems
• Organized enough to juggle three different kinds of work in one day

Nice to have

• Any exposure to transportation, logistics, insurance, or compliance
• Experience managing social accounts for a business
• Familiarity with FMCSA systems, SAFER, or certificates of insurance

Why this matters

Carrier compliance isn't paperwork. Every load we broker carries our authority and our customer's freight. When a carrier is properly vetted, nobody notices. When one isn't, it can cost us a customer or a lot more than that. You're the person standing between those two outcomes.
