Job Title: Electrical Assembler (Fiber Optic Assembly)

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling fiber optic cables and related electrical components in a clean manufacturing environment. You will work with small parts, wires, and cables, using hand tools and measurement tools to build high-quality products according to detailed instructions. The position requires comfort working in a production setting, strong attention to detail, and the ability to meet production quotas while following all safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Follow established assembly instructions and procedures for fiber optic cables and related products.
• Assemble small electrical and fiber optic components using hand tools, measurement tools, and basic wiring techniques.
• Maintain a minimum standard quota for each job assignment, based on time and/or piece count requirements.
• Comply with all safety requirements, company policies, and standard operating procedures at all times.
• Develop an intermediate-level understanding of the names and proper use of tools used in assembly.
• Develop Entry-level component identification and product knowledge to correctly recognize parts and materials.
• Achieve an intermediate-level understanding of measuring with both standard and metric units and use available conversion tools accurately.
• Perform all tasks accurately and thoroughly to ensure consistent production of high-quality products.
• Report any irregularities related to daily goals, product quality, or production delays to production supervision or management.
• Use basic problem-solving skills to identify issues in the assembly process and take appropriate action to resolve them.
• Initiate constructive changes and improvements when you identify opportunities to enhance quality, efficiency, or safety.
• Work effectively as part of a production team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive work environment.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of manufacturing or production experience, preferably with small part assembly.
• Experience using hand tools in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
• Comfort working with small parts, wires, and cables, including fiber optic components.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand instructions and communicate clearly.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and work extended hours, including frequent Friday and Saturday shifts of 5–8 hours.
• Basic measurement skills using both standard and metric units.
• Ability to use measurement tools accurately and interpret measurements for assembly tasks.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Good manual dexterity and strong eye-hand coordination for precise small-part work.
• High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in all assemblies.
• Ability to reason, analyze information, and apply basic problem-solving techniques.
• Ability to meet ITAR compliance requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with small part assembly in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Familiarity with measurement tools and hand tools used in electrical and fiber optic assembly.
• Exposure to reading and working from blueprints, schematics, or wiring diagrams.
• Experience with electrical work such as panel wiring, crimping, wire stripping, and using wire crimpers and wire strippers.
• Basic understanding of electrical and wiring concepts.
• Strong reliability, work ethic, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods and to lift, stoop, and bend as needed to complete tasks.
• Comfort working in a structured, quota-driven production environment.

Work Environment

You will work in a clean manufacturing environment focused on producing fiber optic products for government and private customers. The facility includes a clean room–type setting where you will wear a basic gown similar to a lab coat to maintain product and environmental cleanliness. The standard shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with frequent overtime on Fridays and additional availability needed for 5–8 hour shifts on Fridays and Saturdays. The role involves standing or sitting for extended periods, performing repetitive but precise tasks with small parts, and using hand tools, measurement tools, and electrical assembly equipment. The environment is structured, safety-focused, and production-oriented, with clear expectations for quality, throughput, and teamwork.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tualatin, OR.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Tualatin,OR.
