POSITION SUMMARY The Human Resources Assistant/Generalist works in implementing processes and programs that advance effective recruiting and retention of the company’s most important asset, our team members. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Assistant/Generalist at Ideal Electric will play a critical role in supporting HR operations and ensuring the well‑being and satisfaction of our employees. This role performs professional level human resources work and carries out responsibilities in one or more of the functional areas, such as staffing, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll processing, performance management, and safety. This role carries out administrative work involving various aspects of HR and maintains related records; develops and improves policies, programs, and procedures to improve the effectiveness of HR and Operations. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Recruitment Lead: Serve as Talent Acquisition Specialist in collaboration with HR team and hiring managers. Understanding the need for timely recruitment strategies, create and publish compelling job postings, screen resumes and short‑list candidates, participate in interviews, draft offer letters, and coordinate new‑hire processing. Team Support: Assist Business Unit Managers and/or Supervisors with employee inquiries, performance review process, coaching, counseling, and terminations. HR Compliance: Maintain knowledge of current federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices. Assist with maintaining the organization’s compliance with associated agencies’ requirements. Benefits Administration: Oversee employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits. Assist employees with inquiries and enrollment. Payroll Processing: Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. Address employee payroll‑related inquiries and discrepancies. Data Management: Maintain accurate and confidential written and digital HR records and documentation, including employee files, attendance, and timekeeping. Ensure HRIS is being maintained and used accordingly. Workers Compensation: Administer Workers Compensation programs, ensuring timely reporting, claims management, and coordination with third party administrators. Employee Relations: Assist in managing employee relations matters including employment‑related inquiries from employees, conflict resolution and investigations. Employee Recognition: Maintain and coordinate employee recognition programs. Other: Perform other duties and responsibilities as per business need, as directed by the HR Manager. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum 4 years of progressive Human Resources positions, with a substantial portion of it in a manufacturing environment. SHRM certification preferred but not required. Proven experience as an HR Generalist; substantial recruitment experience preferred. Technically sound in Human Resources fundamentals and best practices and the application of them in manufacturing operations. Thorough knowledge of employment laws and regulations. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). Strong knowledge of, and working experience with, HRIS software; Paycom experience highly preferred. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills including problem solving and conflict resolution abilities. Competence to build and effectively manage professional, respectful, and collaborative interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company and with outside associates. Customer service oriented with a collaborative work style and ability to work effectively across departments. Detail‑oriented and able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Competence to operate ethically to protect the assets and image of the company. Work a daily minimum of 8 hours; weekly 40‑hour minimum. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position is an on‑site role that generally operates in a professional office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to hear and speak, to sit at a desk for prolonged periods, operate traditional office equipment such as computer, phone, fax, scanner, etc., stand for prolonged periods of time and climb steps regularly, access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities with regularity, and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds unassisted. Travel within the continental United States (likely less than 10%) may be required. For this purpose, a valid U.S.‑issued driver license is required as well as a driving record that is acceptable for coverage under the company’s insurance policy.
