Safety and Compliance Manager

Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic Safety and Compliance Manager to lead our safety strategy across all operations. In this pivotal role, you will ensure compliance with regulations, implement risk reduction strategies, and cultivate a robust safety culture. You will be instrumental in developing and executing standardized safety programs and training, ensuring our organization consistently meets or exceeds regulatory standards. Collaborating with various internal and external partners, you will identify hazards and foster a safety-first mentality within everyday decision-making processes. This position reports directly to the National Director of Safety and Compliance and includes direct reports. Summary of Responsibilities: Develop and implement national safety strategies that align with corporate objectives and regulatory frameworks. Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and local regulations while managing inspection readiness and audit performance. Standardize safety procedures across all facilities to promote uniformity in training and execution. Lead initiatives focused on incident prevention, including thorough root cause analyses and corrective action tracking. Oversee timely incident investigations and the implementation of effective corrective actions. Design and manage comprehensive safety training programs covering onboarding, leadership development, and specialized training. Conduct audits and field observations to ensure compliance and identify areas of risk. Mentor and lead the safety team, including site-level safety champions, to promote talent development. Enhance safety culture by encouraging accountability and engagement among frontline team members. Manage safety reporting, including KPI tracking and trend analysis for executive safety updates. Assess contractor and third-party safety performance to ensure alignment with corporate safety standards. Coordinate emergency preparedness and crisis response planning across sites. Drive continuous improvement in safety performance, including behavioral safety and technology adoption initiatives. Oversee safety-related budgets and resource allocation for compliance and training programs. Prepare written communications and documents for various audiences as needed. Desired Characteristics: Strong educational background and over 10 years of relevant experience. Experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments. Familiarity with management systems like ISO 45001. Detail-oriented with a proven ability to lead teams, provide constructive feedback, and follow up on initiatives. Self-motivated leader capable of identifying needs and applying new concepts without close supervision. Demonstrated reliable work history and dependable attendance, with references attesting to your trustworthiness. Willingness to undergo a pre-employment physical, background, and credit checks. Able to travel as needed (25-50% monthly) to various operational sites for audits, engagement, and training.
