Endocrinologist Physician Opportunity-Memphis VA-Millington CBOC

Position Overview

The Millington Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) has an opening for an Endocrinologist that offers a dual academic appointment with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). The CBOC is part of the Department of Veterans Affairs and falls under the Memphis VA Medical Center. It is one of the largest of twelve community-based clinics within the Memphis VA clinical network, serving a diverse veteran population.

Duties

• Age‑specific care, including knowledge of changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric age groups, ability to assess and interpret patient data, and identify age‑specific needs and provide appropriate care.
• Provide consultation on various endocrine disease states, both for diagnosis and treatment in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Clinical practice, supervising and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students in Endocrinology/Diabetic Medicine.
• Share attending call responsibilities with other endocrinologists, covering nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, and round with teams of fellows, residents, and medical students in inpatient settings.
• Clinical assessment and evaluation, manage assigned veteran patients with acute and chronic illnesses, order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies, conduct consultations, referrals, patient follow‑up, health promotion, disease prevention, clinical research, and patient/family/staff education and counseling.

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Residency or Fellowship in Endocrinology
• Board Certified (BE/BC) in Endocrinology
• Full and unrestricted license from any state
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• U.S. Citizenship

Highlights of Position

• Salary: $240,000 - $270,000
• Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with occasional call
• Possible CME reimbursement: $2,000 per year (full-time with board certification)
