Certified Respiratory Therapist PRN

Job Summary Certified Respiratory Therapist PRN – provide respiratory care to patients as ordered by the attending physician, conduct diagnostic procedures, administer therapies and medications, and collaborate with the healthcare team for optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities Administer respiratory care to patients as ordered by the attending physician. Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate need for and response to therapy. Assess patients, interpret results, and suggest alternative treatments. Adjust modes of therapy appropriately. Prioritize work assignments and work independently while respecting patient rights and confidentiality. Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients and co‑workers. Document key information and share it with physicians and nurses. Educate patients and significant others in care activities. Assist physicians in clinical management of patients. Administer medications according to hospital policy. Receive, interpret telephone and verbal orders and document accurately. Use necessary patient equipment safely and effectively. React calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Follow hospital and departmental infection control policies. Delegate appropriately to staff and use resources efficiently. Develop staff and affiliate students. Maintain professional competencies and promote teamwork. Coordinate interdepartmental services and daily unit operations. Support unit care services (dietary, housekeeping, infection control, supply management). Attend at least 80% of in‑services and departmental meetings. Assist with staffing for other hospital areas as needed. Adhere to dress code, conduct and attendance policies. Accept constructive feedback and demonstrate a positive attitude toward the organization. Express communication in organized, articulate and concise manner. Develop specific work plans, meet due dates, and pursue continuous improvement. Adjust to work pressures and changes without undue stress. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers. Respond promptly to customer needs and recommend solutions. Participate in education and development of peers and staff. Attend annual education requirements and maintain required certifications. Qualifications Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 90 days of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) credential (state specific for RRT/RCP). Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy (NBRC‑CRT). Certified Respiratory Therapist. Required annual education: SDH Annual Education.
