Clinical NurseProvides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting, reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director.Essential DutiesEducation: Participates in identifying and meeting personal learning needs.Attends education programs based on identified learning needs.Utilizes patient education materials relevant to the patient population with assistance.Assesses the readiness to learn of the patient, family, and caregivers.Evaluates the developmental level of the patient and factors impacting their ability to learn.Evaluation of Care: Identifies expected patient outcomes.Seeks guidance as needed to revise the care plan.Participates in discussions with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient care.Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.Implementation: Demonstrates competence in the care of patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.Performs bedside point of care testing as required by the care plan.Utilizes organizational and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care.Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs.Consults with appropriate resources regarding patients with complex care issues and high-risk discharge planning.Leadership: With assistance, develops goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations.Achieves goals and objectives within the identified time frame or renegotiates with the supervisor as needed.Participates in development efforts and achievement of unit goals.Effectively utilizes communication systems.Promotes cost-effective care and provides feedback to co-workers.Monitors public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment.Contributes to a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.Patient Assessment: Recognizes data from complex situations to determine care priorities.Includes appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs in assessments.Synthesizes assessment data prior to communicating to others.Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of patients and families.Develops relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for both the patient and themselves.Planning: Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update the care plan.Utilizes multidisciplinary resources in planning care.Employs effective communication methods in planning discussions.Addresses cultural and ethnic issues in patient care planning.Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex issues.Research: Stays informed on relevant studies and articles through professional journals.Presents ideas and questions to staff for assessment of applicability.SkillsRequired Skills & Experience:One (1) year of nursing experience.Preferred Skills & Experience:N/AEducationRequired Education:Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.Preferred Education:BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.Certifications & LicensureClient Details City Chapel Hill State NC
