Position Summary: This position provides instruction that emphasizes the blending of practical experiences, technical expertise, and academic rigor; ensures that students complete coursework in general education, professional education, and technology education. The instructor defines the current status of construction experiences in heavy equipment operation education; builds leadership capacity by developing a collaborative network of scholars who work to improve understanding of the process of learning and teaching of heavy equipment operation education. This position reports to the Principal. Key Responsibilities: Facilitates/coordinates a rigorous Heavy Equipment Operation curriculum with career related instruction; assesses and provides for differentiation to assure student progress. Integrates core content academics and embeds high quality literature, experiences, and project-based learning assignments. Manages and maintains program’s assigned equipment, software, and supplies. Administers developmental testing programs, subject-specific formative/summative assessments, and industry-recognized technical skill assessments to evaluate students’ industry certification competency levels attainment and/or the monitoring and development of individual learning growth and student progress towards achieving Individual Graduation Plan’s (IGP) goals. Sponsors/infuses co-curricular an active SkillsUSA Career Technical Student Organizational (CTSO) experiences for the purpose of leadership development, advanced technical skills attainment, workforce readiness preparation, and college career-readiness. Maintains professional development competence through on-going educational and professional development training, as required for certification. Establishes and maintains industry and post-secondary connections to promote/encourage students’ participation in continuing education opportunities. Engages, conducts, and documents minutes of the local school CTAE Advisory Committee for the curriculum’s career-related activities support. All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services. Key Job Requirements: High school diploma or GED required with appropriate industry-specific (Construction) education linked. Minimum of two (2) years of occupational work experience required; Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred. Makes recommendations or decisions which usually affect the entire department/school. Must hold or be eligible for a GaPSC Certification in the content area of specialization. Sound level of judgment required: Analytical/technical skills required. Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence, and decision-making responsibility. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Requires regular, frequent contact with parents, state and community leaders and decision-making responsibility. Applies, recommends and implements technology solutions based on industry trends to improve the effectiveness of the Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics field. Constantly (Daily) responsibility for the welfare of others. Normal classroom/school setting. Will require travel for off-site training and student exposure opportunities. Light duty – On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping.
