For details, visit Job Requirements Associate’s degree in allied health Graduate of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (NMTCB) / American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) state license, BLS/CPR Experience in nuclear medicine hot lab, radiation safety, isotopes and tracking Experience in a related field; NM registered Job Overview Under the direction of the radiologist and the supervision of the manager or supervisor, the PET/Nuclear Medicine technologist is responsible for utilizing unsealed radionuclides and radiation detection equipment to perform quality diagnostic studies, administer therapeutic treatments, and perform PET/CT studies. Technologists are responsible for the performance of high‑quality diagnostic images utilizing proper technique with established protocols. This position utilizes independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative for accurate diagnosis, and demonstrates competencies in identification of pathology, patient positioning, injections, IV access, and new protocols. It also includes orienting new staff, troubleshooting equipment, maintaining accurate records, assisting in student education, ensuring infection prevention, and performing other duties as required. The technologist adheres to strict radiation safety practices as described in the department manuals and is required to meet continuing education and practice standards. Job Responsibilities Actively participates in training and mentoring of new employees and students. Use principles of service excellence in interactions with peers and customers. Demonstrate competency through ongoing Certified Booster Evaluations (CBEs). Demonstrate knowledge of equipment and operating procedures through CBEs. Select proper imaging protocols and parameters based on clinical history and departmental procedures. Demonstrate organizational and communication skills to promote departmental well‑being. Organize workflow and work area; ensure all work is complete before submission. Complete initiated tasks. Maintain a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental team members. Perform daily quality control procedures on all equipment prior to use. Recognize the need for corrective action and notify Lead Tech. Operate in compliance with governing standards for Nuclear Medicine/PET as defined in hospital manuals, state regulations, and NRC regulations. Accurately order, prepare, and administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with regulations. Orient new employees in regulatory requirements. Provide patient, family, and staff comfort, safety, and care before, during, and after procedures. Recognize and respond to emergency situations and radioactive spills and take appropriate action.
