Quality Specialist

ND Defense is looking for a Quality Specialist to help our departments meet the quality standards and regulations that govern our work. This role combines coaching and auditing. You'll learn the requirements, work with department leaders to find practical ways to meet them and stay involved until those changes are in place. Once processes are running, you'll audit them to confirm they're being followed and help teams get back on track when they aren't.

We'll train you on the specific standards that apply to our business. What we need you to bring is experience helping people, teams, or organizations comply with a quality standard, whether that's ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949, or something similar. Just as important, you'll need the people skills to earn trust across departments, since much of this job is helping others succeed at something that may be new to them.

• Can explain a requirement in plain terms and help someone figure out how it applies to their day-to-day work

• Are comfortable giving honest feedback during an audit while keeping the working relationship intact

Responsibilities

• Help keep our quality and compliance certifications current. You'll be trained on the standards we follow, which include AS9100, ISO 9001, CMMC, and NAVSEA welding requirements.
• Plan and run internal audits, and help prepare for audits by customers and outside certification bodies. When an audit finds a problem, you'll work with the department to fix it and confirm the fix works.
• Write and update policies and procedures so they match what the standards require and how work actually gets done.
• Work with department leaders in Engineering, Operations, IT, and HR to build compliance into everyday work.
• Help HR create and deliver training so employees understand what's required of them.
• Keep an eye on changes to the standards and let the team know what needs to be updated.
• Keep audit records and controlled documents organized and up to date, including welding procedure and welder qualification records.
• Report on audit results and compliance status to leadership.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree preferred, but experience/certifications can substitute for formal education
• Required: Minimum 2+ years of experience in quality management or auditing
• Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
• Strong documentation and tracking skills.
• Excellent communication and partnership skills.
• Relevant quality certifications (CQA, CQM, or equivalent) a plus
• Must be a U.S. Person (US Citizen or Green Card Holder)
