Job Description

This role supports a high-volume logistics and distribution operation that serves critical industries such as aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial equipment manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals. The forklift operator safely handles inbound and outbound freight, accurately picks and stages orders, and performs a wide range of warehouse functions in a cross-trained environment. The position begins as a 6‑month contract-to-hire opportunity with structured training and clear pathways for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Pick customer orders accurately using paper pick sheets and follow all documented procedures.

• Operate stand-up reach lifts and sit-down forklifts to move, stage, and store materials safely within the warehouse.

• Use forklifts to load and unload trucks for both inbound and outbound freight operations.

• Wrap pallets using an automatic pallet wrapping machine to secure loads for shipment.

• Handle general material handling tasks, including picking, packing, loading, unloading, labeling, and staging products.

• Perform shipping and receiving activities, including verifying shipments, checking documentation, and organizing outbound freight.

• Assist with inventory control by counting, tracking, and recording warehouse inventory accurately.

• Use warehouse software and computer systems to enter data, update orders, and support warehouse management processes.

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including safe forklift operation and proper lifting techniques, with a strong focus on preventing accidents and injuries.

• Participate in cross-training across all warehouse functions so you can perform order pulling, shipping, receiving, and general warehouse duties as needed.

• Use RF scanners and other equipment, when required, to support picking, inventory, and shipping processes.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area to support smooth warehouse operations.

• Communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing, to coordinate with team members and follow work instructions.

• Complete in-house training over the first 2–4 weeks to learn warehouse processes and safety protocols before independently operating forklifts.

• Support production and logistics activities as needed to meet customer demands and operational goals.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of warehouse experience in a logistics, distribution, or similar environment.

• At least 1 year of experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse or distribution center.

• Demonstrated ability to read and work from paper pick sheets accurately.

• Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including inbound and outbound freight handling.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily tasks.

• Strong focus on safety with proven safe forklift operating practices.

• Basic computer skills and comfort using warehouse software for data entry and order processing.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

• Experience with order picking, packing, loading, unloading, and general material handling.

• Capability to work in a cross-trained environment and perform multiple warehouse functions as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using a stand-up reach lift in addition to sit-down forklifts.

• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or similar warehouse software.

• RF scanner experience for picking, inventory, or shipping tasks.

• Previous experience with inventory control and warehouse inventory tracking.

• Comfort with data entry and basic computer-based workflows.

• Experience with labeling, pallet wrapping machines, and general production support.

• Motivation to build a long-term career in warehousing and logistics with a demonstrated record of tenure and reliability.

• Ability to adapt quickly to new processes and cross-training across multiple warehouse roles.

Work Environment

The role is based in a logistics warehouse and distribution center that stores sensitive products used for military and other critical industries. You work primarily on a daytime schedule, including shifts such as 5:30 AM–2:30 PM or 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, with substantial hours available. The facility is a brand-new, modern warehouse environment equipped with sit-down forklifts, stand-up reach lifts, pallet wrapping machines, RF scanners, and computer-based warehouse software. The operation emphasizes strict safety standards and careful handling of sensitive materials. You can expect a busy, hands-on environment involving frequent lifting, forklift operation, and movement throughout the warehouse, with cross-training across all warehouse functions rather than narrow, single-task roles.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
