What You'll Do As a Melting Furnace Operator , you'll be at the heart of our iron production process, responsible for ensuring efficient and safe furnace operations. Your key duties will include:
- Setting up and operating furnace charging equipment.
- Performing quality tests to ensure products meet specifications.
- Tapping the furnace into ladles and transporting molten grey iron.
- Monitoring temperatures, chemistry, and furnace conditions.
- Handling relines, cold starts, sinters, and breakouts as needed.
- Repairing ladles and furnaces and performing routine maintenance.
- Slagging the furnace, collecting samples, and making chemistry adjustments.
- Operating the scrap yard crane to load charge cars.
- Maintaining a clean, organized workspace following 6S standards.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in melting, manufacturing, or industrial settings is a plus-but we'll train the right candidate!
- A consistent, stable work history is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to frequently bend, lift, and move items up to 50 pounds (with or without reasonable accommodations).
