We're seeking experienced Certified Medical Assistants to teach Healthcare Sciences courses at charter school campuses throughout the San Antonio and New Braunfels area. This flexible 1099 independent contractor opportunity allows you to earn supplemental income while making a lasting impact. Current teaching opportunities include a full-year Certified Medical Assistant course in Windcrest as well as semester-long Phlebotomy courses in San Antonio and New Braunfels. Candidates qualified to teach both CMA and Phlebotomy are highly encouraged to apply for additional instructional opportunities, although expertise in only one specialty is welcome.

No teaching certification is required. A comprehensive curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional resources are provided.

What You'll Do

• Deliver engaging classroom and hands-on instruction.
• Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications and entry-level healthcare careers.
• Utilize the provided curriculum while maintaining basic classroom documentation.
• Mentor students by sharing practical knowledge, professionalism, and real-world healthcare experience.

What You Bring

Ideal candidates have experience as:

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
• Minimum of 3 years of recent Medical Assistant experience OR at least 1 year of Medical Assistant instructional experience.
• Active CMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA, or equivalent nationally recognized certification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Teaching or mentoring experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to successfully complete FBI fingerprinting/background screening.

Schedule

• Days: Monday - Friday
• Time:8:00-12:00 and 12:30-4:30

• Flexible based on instructor availability
• Typical class length: 1.5 hours
• Most instructional commitments average approximately 4 hours per class session, including preparation and classroom responsibilities

Compensation

• $85-92 per instructional session (based on experience and certifications)
• Flexible 1099 Independent Contractor opportunity
