Join Our Dynamic Med/Surg Team! Job Description:
- Shift: 12-Hour Nights
- Schedule: 6-9 weekends within a 6-week rotation
- First to Float: In extreme need, floating within Zone 1 required
- Unit: Med/Surg (ONC) - 2nd Floor
- Total Beds: 24
- Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4 Essential Qualifications:
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- NIHSS Patient Population:
- Common Diagnoses:
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Hypertension
- Chest Pain Work-ups
- COPD Exacerbations
- Asthma and Pneumonia
- Pancreatitis
- Bowel Obstructions
- Gastrointestinal Bleeding
- Acute Renal Failure Skills & Expectations:
- Experience or Must-Have Skills: NIHSS
- Drip Management: RNs required to titrate drips, which include:
- Analgesics for pain
- Anticoagulants for blood clots
- Antihypertensives for blood pressure control
- Monitoring: No monitor techs; RNs required to read their own strips Support Staff:
- Charge Nurse:
- Takes an assignment
- Nurse Aids Ratios: 1:5 Equipment:
- RT Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, and Vents Scheduling Details:
- Self-Scheduling: Yes, along with block scheduling
- Weekend Requirement:
- Minimum six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Yes Cancellation Policy:
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks Charting System:
