License: Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Certifications: ARRT Certified in Mammography within nine months from date of hire
Must-Have:
40 hours documented training specific to mammography
8 hours modality specific digital training in accordance with Mammograph Quality Standards Act
Competent to perform screening mammograms on adults aged 18 - 100 years
Demonstrated skills and knowledge of mammography unit and basic positioning skills
Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner
Detail-oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data
Description:
Operates mammography equipment to produce radiographic images of the breast for screening exams under the general supervision of a radiologist.
Performs timely screening mammography with less than 5% repeat rate.
Enters accurate patient history and charges off exam.
Explains exam in a manner the patient can understand.
Gains patient cooperation and reduces patient anxiety.
Complies with all departmental and hospital policies.
Performs other duties as required by lead technologist or manager.
Makes independent judgments in minor decision-making where alternatives are limited.
Maintains established standard policies and protocols.
Works directly with patients and/or customers.
Engages with internal and external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff.
