General Information

• Number of Beds: 27
• Staffing Details:
  • Day Shift: 1 CNC, 5-6 RNs, 3 CNAs
  • Night Shift: 1 CNC, 5-6 RNs, 3 CNAs
• Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
• Electronic Medical Records: Meditech

Role Responsibilities

• Perform nursing procedures on patients with a focus on medical-surgical telemetry care.
• Monitor and manage patient vital signs and administer medications as needed.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families.

Qualifications

• Must-Have Skills:
  • BLS Certification
  • ACLS Certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification
• Typical Procedures Performed:
  • General Surgery
  • Echo, EKG, Colonoscopy, TEE, EEG, Wound Vac Management
• Equipment Used:
  • Welch-Allen Vital Sign Machines
  • Glucometers
  • Polar Ice Devices
  • Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) Devices

The unit offers open block scheduling for travelers, comprehensive orientation to unit policies and procedures, and opportunities for resourcing, precepting, and working with students. The community hospital fosters a cohesive environment with accessible providers and has case management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy services available on the same floor as the unit. Daily multidisciplinary rounds are held to enhance care coordination for patients.
