Extended Assignment Team - Registered Respiratory Therapist, Nights

Shift Night (United States of America) Shift: 7p-7a Program Commitment Team members are required to complete one 13‑week assignment. Oct 1st – March 31st (surge season) each year. Extended assignment team members function under a contingency staffing model as a PRN team member, with no guaranteed hours. During the assignment team members will be scheduled 36 hours/week. All scheduling is done at the unit level; no self‑scheduling. Team members are required to work three Mondays and/or Fridays, and three Saturdays and/or Sundays in a four‑week schedule period. Assignment Placement New team members are placed based on facility needs and will not receive a service agreement prior to final clearance to start. Job Summary The Registered Respiratory Therapist, working under the direction of the RC Manager/Director, is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge and experience. The RRT delivers patient care in complex, multiple‑problem situations, primarily in critical care areas with significant independent decision‑making and self‑direction. In addition to direct patient care, the RRT provides patient and family education, coordinates activities, supports staff development, and contributes to professional and self‑developmental activities. The RRT maintains a close working relationship with medical staff and respiratory care leadership and demonstrates strong customer relations, assessment, and communication skills. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Provide customer service through completion of patient care, documentation, and education. Adopt a team approach and promote a positive work environment. Administer quality patient care, including patient assessment, aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, oxygen therapy, ventilator management, weaning, waveform interpretation, airway management (intubation, extubation, trach tube change and care), and arterial blood gas sampling analysis. Educate patients and mentor new employees, students, and peers. Assist in invasive procedures such as bronchoscopy and thoracentesis. Support cardiac service procedures (EKG, stress test, Holter monitoring) and pulmonary diagnostic testing. Maintain and update electronic cardex and uphold a high level of patient safety (medication safety, NPSG, etc.). Support performance improvement initiatives and promote evidence‑based practice. Review revised and new DPPs. Required Minimum Education Graduate of an AMA‑approved training program in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Sciences; a B.S. degree is required. Required Minimum Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support 1.00 (Required) Advanced Cardiac Life Support 2.00 (Required) Registered Respiratory Therapist 3.00 (Required) Neonatal Resuscitation Provider 4.00 (Required) Pediatric Advanced Life Support 5.00 (Required) Respiratory Care Professional 6.00 (Required) Additional Licenses and Certifications — Required Minimum Experience Minimum one year of experience; two years preferred. Previous travel experience strongly preferred. Required Minimum Skills Ability to communicate well, critical thinking skills, establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other health‑care personnel, and computer skills including familiarity with databases.
