Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a Med/Surg unit requiring VA or compact RN license and 1+ years of inpatient oncology/medical experience.

Details

• Medical floor specializing in palliative care and oncology within a Level II Trauma Center
• Patient population includes COPD, diabetic, cellulitis, pancreatitis, sickle cell, oncology, and respite/hospice cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to medical assignments and ED for medical holds
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient medical experience required, with 2 years preferred and oncology experience preferred
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/infusions, accessing/managing ports, administration of blood and blood products, PICC line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with chemotherapy administration (staff only) and blood transfusions required
• Experience with neutropenic precautions and isolation precautions/PPE required
• Knowledge of pain management and medication tolerance/dependence assessment required

Additional Information

• Provide care for oncology and palliative care patients including medication administration of antibiotics, antiemetics, and corticosteroids
• Deliver patient and family education and support along with psychosocial care
• Navy blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• Holiday RTO must be pre-approved and no Christmas RTO will be approved
• RTO requests beyond 7 days require an equivalent extension of the assignment
• Block scheduling accommodations available at manager's discretion
• Returning travelers must have a 1-year separation from the facility before being eligible to return
• Up to 8 hours of pre-start training modules required within 1 week of signing
