Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties Administer occupational therapy treatments under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, adhering to individualized treatment plans. Assist patients in improving functional mobility, strength, coordination, and independence through targeted therapeutic activities. Document patient progress and treatment outcomes accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with facility standards. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including OTs, PTs, SLPs, and nursing staff, to optimize patient care. Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and strategies for continued improvement and independence. Provide care tailored to the needs of geriatric patients, emphasizing empathy and patient-centered approaches. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Job Requirements Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and eligibility to practice in New Jersey. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar setting; 3 years preferred. Experience with geriatric patients and familiarity with orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation techniques. Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills to ensure effective patient care and record-keeping.
