Metal Fabricator Railings and Stairs

Newark, NY | $26-$30/hour DOE | Onsite | Day Shift Take a shop print and turn it into a finished railing, stair, or steel assembly. A confidential steel fabrication company is seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator who brings strong measurement, layout, and fitting skills to hands-on shop work. This opportunity offers ownership of finished work, a varied workload, and an approximately 6:00 AM–2:00 PM core shift. Overtime may be available and is not mandatory. Strong transferable fabrication experience is welcome. What You Will Build and Do Fabricate railings, stairs, miscellaneous metals, and related steel assemblies. Read fabrication drawings, measure accurately, and lay out material for the job. Prepare components, perform fit-up and bending, assemble the product, and weld as needed. Check the completed assembly against print dimensions and make corrections. Cut, drill, grind, torch, move steel, and support finishing or other production areas as needed. What You Need to Succeed 2+ years of hands-on metal or steel fabrication experience with railings, stairs, miscellaneous metals, or comparable assemblies. Ability to read shop prints and measure accurately with a tape measure. Strong layout, fit-up, and assembly skills, with the ability to complete a project from a print with limited supervision. Ability to weld fabricated assemblies and verify dimensional accuracy. Comfort with substantial material handling, broad shop duties, and safe work around cranes and steel components. Availability for onsite work on the stated day shift and willingness to cross-train and help across production areas. Helpful Background Direct railing and stair fabrication or pipe bending. Sheet bending, programming, or beam and column fabrication. CNC or plasma-table exposure; specific machine and software experience is not required.
