About the Role:

Join LOCAL AMBASSADORS, INC., as a Direct Support Professional in Folsom, CA, where your dedication can make a real difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. Support active adults who love to have fun while learning. This is a day program setting catering to non-behavioral clients for six hours per day 9 am - 3 pm M-F only. 

Responsibilities:

• Be a positive role model; promote inclusion and advocacy for rights of persons with developmental disabilities,
• Assist clients with instruction, safety supports, communication, supervision and activities of daily living.
• Inspire and support clients in achieving personal goals and independence.
• Facilitate community engagement and social interactions.
• Monitor client progress, maintain documentation and report any changes to the supervisory team.

Requirements:

• Must be able to commit to 30-hour per week schedule 9 am - 3 pm.
• Must be at least 25 years old with high school diploma, associate's degree or college coursework.
• Experience teaching and or caregiving for neurodivergent/special needs adults and elderly individuals with physical disabilities a plus.
• Must be able to prioritize and complete work on time, be detail oriented and demonstrate a service orientation to clients
• Strong communication skills, compassionate demeanor, and a problem solver
• Valid driver’s license with clean driver record, reliable transportation and ability to safely operate large Class C passenger vehicles.
• First Aid and CPR certification required.
• Livescan clearance required (employer cost).
• Pre-employment physical, TB test, and 50-lb lift test required (employer cost)
• Must be able to share facility with pet therapy dog; experience with therapy dog or service dog a plus
• Must be able to take direction easily, demonstrate flexibility, work well in a team environment and maintain attendance and punctuality.
