Majority of work activity performed in various facilities throughout the regions serviced. Travel by automobile to the location. Log in for self-dispatching or call the dispatch department for information regarding the beginning case load. Arrive at the first case at the start of the assigned shift or leave thirty minutes prior. Unload portable sonographic equipment and take it into facilities to perform exams ordered by the physician. Obtain clinically diagnostic and technically competent images. Perform and process ultrasounds using portable sonographic equipment and digitally send them to a Radiologist for interpretation. Check voicemail from each client facility upon completion of assigned cases; or minimally every thirty minutes as necessary. Check for available cases via self-dispatching or check in with the dispatcher on duty every thirty minutes as necessary. Wear the company uniform and follow the company dress code. Carry the company-provided phone. Respond to all urgent communication within fifteen minutes. Attend meetings as required. Ensure all orders are checked for accuracy against the exams listed in the patient's chart as ordered by the physician. Ask for two patient identifiers, such as their name and date of birth, to confirm identity. If the patient is unable to identify themselves, the nurse in charge must confirm their identity. Document the nurse's name on the requisition. Facility staff will conduct any required patient transfers, support, and positioning. Sonographer must have medical physical examinations and TB screening at the time of hire and annually. Communication with call center, dispatch, peers, supervisory staff, and clients should be efficient and professional. Maintain vehicle and sonographic equipment. Sonographer must maintain a high standard of medical ethics at all times. Be self-motivated to increase understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and evolving procedures. Sonographer is responsible for any motor vehicle tickets incurred. Consumption of alcohol or illegal substances and possession of weapons is prohibited. Communicate any changes to criminal background and adhere to the drug-free workplace policy. Behave and conduct oneself in a professional manner according to the Code of Conduct. Sonographer must ensure equipment is cared for professionally. Notify the supervisor immediately in the event of any equipment malfunction. Train other technologists as required. Work independently with minimal supervision. Complete and pass drug screening and background check. Possess good organizational skills. Perform basic smartphone operations as well as basic computer skills such as printing documents and scanning. Knowledge of applicable regions, geography, and travel routes is required. Maintain a pleasant phone manner and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. This job description represents only a portion of the responsibilities of the Sonographer.
