Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist capable of working in a dynamic job shop environment to manufacture complex, tight-tolerance components. This role requires strong “print-to-part” expertise and the ability to independently take parts from blueprint through final production while meeting strict quality and delivery deadlines. On-the-job training will be provided as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Perform advanced machine setups and adjust CNC equipment based on provided programs
- Edit and optimize G & M code programs as needed
- Operate CNC machines to complete complex, multi-step machining operations
- Adjust speeds, feeds, offsets, and tooling during production
- Interpret blueprints, programming instructions, and setup documentation
- Configure tooling, material clamping methods, and machine calibrations
- Perform operations such as boring, milling, drilling, facing, threading, and occasional contouring
- Inspect parts to ensure they meet all specifications and tolerances
- Run and manage multiple machines simultaneously when required
- Handle tool changes and maintain production across multiple jobs
- Candidates must already be at a print-to-part machining level upon starting
- Complete full setups, offsets, and program edits independently
- Produce one-off and low-volume components from start to finish
- Work on extremely large, high-value parts (10,000–100,000 lbs, up to 12 ft in diameter)
- Maintain precision while machining exotic and expensive alloys
- Participate in extensive training for shop-specific processes (up to ~18 months depending on experience level)
- Minimum 4+ years of CNC machining experience (mills or lathes)
- Proven ability to perform print-to-part machining
- Strong blueprint reading skills
- Solid understanding of GD&T and ability to assess part conformance
- Experience editing or programming G & M codes (Heidenhain, Siemens, Fanuc, Mazak, or similar)
- Ability to perform complex setups and adjustments independently
- Experience machining large-scale parts (10,000 lbs+)
- Familiarity with Heidenhain or Siemens controls
- Experience in a job shop or prototype environment handling new builds and custom projects

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Merrill, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.47 - $36.20/hr.
