Radiation Oncology Nurse (RN)The Radiation Oncology Nurse is a registered nurse who plays a collaborative role within the Radiation Oncology Team to ensure continuity and quality patient care. The nurse is responsible for assessing and providing appropriate nursing interventions for patients experiencing actual or potential problems related to their disease process, treatment course, and follow-up period. This position emphasizes teaching, counseling, and providing supportive resources to assist patients and their families in coping with and adjusting to cancer diagnoses and treatments.Key ResponsibilitiesAssess and evaluate patients in collaboration with the Radiation Oncologist.Serve as a liaison between Radiation Oncology and other departments, healthcare providers, and support groups.Provide appropriate referrals for recovery, rehabilitation, nursing home care, hospice, and nutritional services.Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and coping strategies.ScheduleThis position requires working four 10-hour shifts on weekdays.QualificationsCurrent RN license in good standing in Colorado.BLS certification through the American Heart Association.ACLS certification through the American Heart Association.A minimum of 2 years of RN experience specifically in Radiation Oncology.SkillsAbility to adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment.Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.Ability to coordinate oncology patient care with interdisciplinary staff.Highly organized with flexibility to manage dynamic situations.Knowledge and skills to provide care across various age groups and cultural backgrounds.Understanding of chronic illness and comorbidity management.Current knowledge of trends, procedures, and protocols in hematology, oncology, and internal medicine practices.Familiarity with evidence-based practices in oncology, immunology, pharmacology, community health, and cultural sensitivity.Holiday CoverageNo holiday coverage is required for this position.
